How to Stay Calm While Working
As someone who has to work for a living and stays in her feelings, work can be rough. But I don't always have the luxury of tending to my feelings during working hours. I know I'm not alone!
Step 28: Move When Prompted
At some point you will be in a position for far too long. Whether it's a job, a relationship or a body size, it's possible to be in a rut.
24 Lessons for 24 Years
I'm not about to assume y'all know me so I'll just tell you what today is. Today is my birthday. As the title gives away, yes I am 24. I've made a lot of decisions, met a lot of people and spent a lot of time learning about this here life I have. Now it's time to sit down at this desk and give you all some golden nuggets I've picked up on the way.
Step 26: Don't Take it Personal
We can take offense to anything. A cough, a note, and a decision all have the power to send us into a tailspin. I know all about finding fault with an ill-timed sigh. Who else worries about whether everyone hates you?
Step 25: Take Risks
People will always be in favor of having a plan and following the rules. It helps the decision making process go by smoother. When there's a playbook, you can breathe. Someone did all the hard work for you and all you have to do is adhere to it. That sounds amazing right?
Step 23: Accept Rejection
One of the worst things someone can tell you is no. No is painful, not because you're selfish but because you worked hard to get a yes. It's especially hard if you were waiting for an answer.
Step 19: Learn to Plan
We're all a mess. And life seems to conspire against us all. There's school/work, family, friends, bills social obligations as well as personal time that need to be dealt with. How can you deal with it all without running in front of a moving car?
Step 7: Breathe
Throughout the summer, I had been seeing a therapist. Because there is a super black woman complex, I was ashamed that I couldn't just pray, take a nap and do what I needed to do. However after many strong suggestions and sleep deprived nights, I got into an Uber and sat down on that comfy couch to cry in front of a stranger.
