Step 25: Take Risks

Do not fear mistakes. There are none.
— Miles Davis

People will always be in favor of having a plan and following the rules. It helps the decision making process go by smoother. When there's a playbook, you can breathe. Someone did all the hard work for you and all you have to do is adhere to it. That sounds amazing right?

It can be. But it can also make you want to pull your hair out.

Life is way more complicated than any guideline can explain. Every situation hasn't been experienced by the writers of these ever-expanding lists. If you don't believe me, try to type in your exact this or that dilemma into Google. Even if you find a thread or discussion board on it, most of the time people can't agree on the best course of action.

Think about how many times have you been presented with a crazy offer and hesitated. I bet you worried about what your friends and family may think of you. Or if your religious community will shun you. Have you considered that offer may be laid out there specifically for you in order to level up in life? You'll never know because you're too busy trying to do the right thing by others' standards.

The lesson for today is to say fuck it from time to time. To our knowledge, we only get one chance at this living thing. Don't waste time not doing what you want to do for others' approval. They don't have to walk around with the decisions you make. As long as you can handle the risk, take it.
