Omission

She was right. Omission is a lie.

It's the most familiar kind of lie I tell.

It's so second nature I don't even catch it anymore.

Omission kills everything great in my life.

It kills all of my relationships,

trust,

security.

Omission throws every moment of laughter,

of understanding,

of unconditional love away.

It's the most cowardice part of me.

I wonder if omission plays cops and robbers with depression.

Both encourage me to run.

Then the bounty hunter pride comes through.

Tells everyone to step back because somehow whatever I'm hiding will be conquered.

But the decision to follow their screams is mine.

I keep apologizing as if that makes that decision disappear.

All it does it make every word sound calculated.

Lying by omission is one of the cruelest actions I commit.

So you were right Grandma.

Omission takes the beauty from everything. Especially humans.
