Step 27: Patience: The Remix

There are times to stay put, and what you want will come to you, and there are times to go out into the world and find such a thing for yourself.

The women in my life have all told me not to grow up too fast. Don't move too fast. Don't make such hasty decisions. My young mind thought they had no idea what they were talking about. The best things come to those who speed!

I was sorely mistaken.

Rushing knocks me into everything I never intended to hit on the way. I would stub my toe on denial then walk right into being disappointed. Think of it like someone's walking into a rake and it hitting them square in the face. There are times when something says "stay still." Don't jump to something shiny when you're settling in nicely.

But there are times when you need to make the first move. Recently I asked to be brought on as a full employee rather than a long time consultant. I could have continued to wait until my supervisors came up with the idea themselves but it's time. I trust my intuition enough to know when it's time to move and when to sit pretty.

The lesson for today is to be patient enough to wait for your next move. If a move comes up while you're waiting and it doesn't feel right, don't force it. Sit right where you are until the time comes.
